RESTRICTION OF RIBBON DEVELOPMENT ACT SUB-COMMITTEE/HIGHWAYS (GENERAL PURPOSES) SUB-COMMITTEE MINUTES

Scope and Content

The sub-committee was set up to enforce the Restriction of Ribbon Development Act, 1935 (25 & 26 Geo. V c. 47) which enabled highway and planning authorities to restrict roadside development by regulating road widths and controlling access to public highways. The Act enhanced the County Council's role in planning matters in relation to the district councils who were the chief planning authorities at this time.
