Scope and Content

Large bound volume collated by the RCM Centenary Committee containing hand painted drawings, photographs, letters, and memorabilia relating to the Centenary celebrations throughout 1981, including a letter from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, an introduction by the RCM President, Dorothy Webster, a history of the RCM, material promoting the centenary such as commemorative stamps, postmarks, posters, pamphlets, and leaflets, papers and photographs from the service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey (April 1981), the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace (July 1981), the Annual Meeting in London (July 1981), the Centenary Reception at St James' Palace (July 1981) attended by Her Majesty the Queen, the International Confederation of Midwives Conference at Brighton (September 1981), the reception for Margaret Thatcher (December 1981), the Inaugural Rosalind Paget Memorial Lecture (December 1981), and reports from RCM Boards and Branches on their centenary celebrations.
