Papers of Eveland Hutchings, 1916-1926

Scope and Content

Collection of photographs and papers relating to the babies delivered by Eveland Hutchings as a registered midwife, including studio photographs of her in uniform with the babies, two pictures of the maternity ward at Dudley Road, Birmingham, the certificate issued by the Acton Nursing Institute and Maternity Training School, 23 May 1916 for qualification as a monthly nurse, the certificate issued by the Central Midwives Board, 10 December 1921, together with accompanying letter from CMB and printed CMB rule book (1921), typed lesson notes from ‘Medico Postal Coaching Classes’ for the CMB Examination (c.1920), and a letter from the Privy Purse Office, Buckingham Palace referring to her application for the 'King's Bounty' for a mother who had given birth to triplets (possibly the Ilkeston triplets), January 1926.
