Scope and Content

Ms register of cases attended by Elizabeth Catherine Moss, midwife practising in South West London (6 May 1948-14 April 1950) and then at the Annie McCall Maternity Hospital (8 June 1950-29 October 1952), listing the name, age, address, pregnancy history and expected date of confinement of each patient, the date and hour of her arrival at the delivery, the presentation of the child, the date and hour of the birth of the child, the sex of the child and whether born living or dead, whether the child was premature, the name of the doctor if called, if there were any complications during or after labour, the date and the condition of the mother and child on her last visit, as well as any further remarks, such as the drugs administered during the delivery and the weight of the infant. Also includes a ts notice, issued by the Secretary of the Central Midwives Board (29 June 1948), relating to arrangements for maternity services in the National Health Service.

Elizabeth Catherine Moss (fl. 1930-1960) was a midwife who practised in South West London and then the Annie McCall Maternity Hospital (previously known as the Clapham Maternity Hospital) during the middle of the twentieth century.
