Papers of Margaret Gibson

This collection comprises one ms obstetric case book (24 May-21 October 1945), two ms case books (2 August 1945-25 April 1946) and one ms notebook (2 March-31 May 1946), compiled by Margaret Gibson, during her time as a pupil midwife at the St. Mary's Infirmary in Leeds and then the Springfield Maternity Home in Blackburn, together with one ms register of cases (4 August 1946-20 May 1948), recording the infants that she was involved in delivering after she qualified, providing detailed descriptions of childbirth, as well as the examinations she was required to perform during and after labour.

Margaret Gibson (fl. 1920-2007) was a midwife, who trained at the Springfield Maternity Home, Blackburn and the St. Mary's Infirmary, Leeds from 1945 to 1948.

There is no record of the date or source of acquisition before the collection was deposited at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in May 2011.
