Scope and Content

This collection comprises notes of cases (17 May 1945-5 January 1946), pupil case book (5 May 1946-17 March 1947) and register of cases (21 July 1947-20 September 1948) of Gwendoline R. Dumsday, recording the births she attended whilst training and then practising as a midwive in East London and later in Reading, Berkshire, including detailed descriptions of childbirth, as well as the antenatal and postnatal care she was involved in providing.

Administrative / Biographical History

Gwendoline R. Dumsday (fl. 1930-1950) was a midwife who trained at the Salvation Army Mother's Hospital in East London and went on to practise at the Babies Nursing Home in Reading, Berkshire.
