Scope and Content

Papers relating to Sarah Devlin's nursing and midwifery career, covering her training in Lurgan and Portadown Hospital (1953-1955), her work as a nurse in medical tuberculous wards and surgical thoracic units in South Belfast Hospital (1955-1958), and as a district nurse (1961) and midwife (1963-1969) in Coventry, including case registers (September 1963 - November 1969), dangerous drugs regulations order book (1963-1969), midwives drugs books (1963-1969), training notebooks, wage slips, references and correspondence relating to her places of work, and certificates, including her midwifery refresher courses at Kingston upon Hull with photographs (1964 and 1969), her certificate in midwifery issued by the Joint Nursing and Midwives Council, Northern Ireland (1954), British Tuberculosis Association certificate (1956), Central Midwives Board certificate of registration (1960) and certificate of 25 years service issued by Coventry Area Health Authority (1981). Also with the papers are her district nurse flashes, a sterile mucous extractor, lancet blood sampler, and magnifier for insulin syringes.
