The letter mentions Hughes's intended visit to Lady Ripon's [of Studley Royal] that evening, although he does write that no one was admitted on Sunday but he believes this was just prudence. Hughes refers to a meeting he has attended for dean Jeanines society for "helping friendly servants [pauper girls] in metropolitan places" that was successful and Hughes believes the work will be, Hughes mentions names of speakers; Slanefeld; the dean; Farran, Brooke Lacubul; Dr Stoughton; Mrs Grey; Pell; and himself. He also mentions seeing people he knows, including Lady Elliott.
