Lee Conservancy Catchment Board

Scope and Content

This file contains correspondence and printed material relating to the Enfield Highway Society's objections to bye-laws imposed by the Lee Conservancy Catchment Board. The Lee Conservancy Catchment Board was established in 1930 under the provisions of the Land Drainage Act. It was responsible for drainage into the River Lea and then became responsible for water supplies, fisheries, pollution and land drainage

The Society had objections to the Board's bye laws as they believed the Board should be responsible for keeping the water clear that was going through their land. The file comprises copies of the Society's objections, copies of the bye-laws, correspondence and copies of the London Gazette.
