John Dunn Hunter (1798-1827) was an American adventurer and author. He is reputed to have been kidnapped by Cherokees as a toddler and raised as one of their own. He then left his tribe in 1816 and traveled the United States and England. In 1824 he published his account with the Cherokee, titled Memoirs of a Captivity among the Indians of North America.
