Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

This manuscript letter opens with Travis writing he will be happy to accept Owen's invitation to visit him; any time is agreeable to Travis.

Travis explains that he was interested to read the papers published in the Sentinal, but believes there are other causes for the "effects" or "phenomena".

Travis also notes that the Dispatch newspaper has come out against the Law of Limited Liability, believing it would favour fraud and facilitate the making of debts by those with no inclination of paying them. This view prompts Travis to remark "what a parcel of thieves this old immoral world is made up of".
