Manuscript letter, written to accompany an enclosed copy of the Sheffield Isis. Ironside calls Owen attention to a column on the first page featuring a report of them [Sheffield Branch of the Rational Society] being summoned for Poor Rates for the Hall [of Science]. He remarks the column is "any thing but discreditable". Owen is asked to forward the Iris to the Marquess of Normanby once he has read it along with a letter Ironside had enclosed.
Ironside closes by asking Owen to come to Sheffield to deliver a lecture to celebrate the [1st] anniversary of the opening [of the Hall of Science].
