In this manuscript letter Alex Barry details a lecture he proposes to give at Weymouth. Barry hopes that the town will establish "one of those scientific institutions which have flourished so greatly in other provincial towns." He praises Owen's interest in "the welfare of mankind" and commends the "happy effects resulting from your system at Lanark."
