Manuscript letter: Thomas informs Owen that he has been unable to work for the past 2 years since suffering an injury at his last position as a butler. He is now in debt, unable to pay the rent and not enough possessions to barter for money. It is with "real distress" that he now writes to Owen to seek his help.
