Manuscript letter, in which Owen is asked if he knows of any farmers interested in settling in Virginia. Mills explains that the land is in the "heart" of Virginia, only 2 or 3 days ride from Washington (from where Mills writes), and is land noted for producing wheat, corn, tobacco, barley and fruits of all kind; a number of "Scots" families are already there.
Owen is asked to give Mrs Mills a description of his "mode of instructing children", and kindly explain the kind of "apparatus" he uses.
Mills closes by remarking of the pleasure felt by Mills and his wife when reflecting on the time they spent in Owen's "society" and in his sons [Robert Dale Owen or David Dale Owen] company.
