Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter. Owen begins by telling Rigby he awaits results of the reception of his Proclamation in London. He then goes on to ask Rigby to send to Mr Atkins a proof of part 6 of the New Existence, the 12 tracts and, when ready, 150 copies of the reports of the meeting of 1 January. Owen says that when the reports are ready he wants Apostles to take them to the principal towns in the provinces to lecture from and sell.

Owen says that he intends something shall be done on 14th May of no ordinary character.

Owen concludes by saying that the sale of the tracts is essential and that he will have a 3rd edition of the report as soon as he has time to write an introduction.
