Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

In this manuscript letter Robert Owen relays the story of a Mr Robert Pemberton and his son to James Rigby. Pemberton called upon Owen and gave him a copy of the book he wrote, The Happy Colony.

He explains that Pemberton is self-taught and has traveled around the world, without much interaction with society for until very lately he appears to have been ignorant of my works and proceedings. He implores Rigby to see his work as he believes that it will very valuable to their cause to a great extent.

He tells that he has given Pemberton copies of some of his works and that he expects another visit when he has read them.
