Letter from Thomas Whitaker to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter saying that he read with much satisfaction in the Reasoner that he and Pare have commenced winding up the Rational Society's affairs. Whitaker says he would have done this a long time ago but he felt it would be a difficult task. He says he feels there may be a hitch in doing so as such a long time has passed without legal steps being taken. If this is the case Whitaker offers his services in proving that the matter has not been in abeyance for so long.

Whitaker goes on to say he shall watch the proceedings anxiously. He says he has sought advice from one of the most eminent counsel at the English Equity Bar on the rights of all interested parties. He says he will offer any assistance required as long as he and his friends approve of the settlement of the assetts. He concludes by saying he does not seek any pecuniary benefit but just wishes to see that the assetts are fairly distributed.
