Minutes, 1924-1927

One handwritten volume with lock (open) which includes minutes of the General Board, Executive Committee, subcommittee, shareholders quarterly and annual meetings, from 23 July 1924 to 26 October 1927. The volume includes newspaper cuttings on some of the meetings along with letters, and notes referred to in the meetings pasted onto pages. Subjects discussed include the running of the Co-operative News and printing work done for other organisations, sales of newspapers and advertising, publicity, organisation of employees’ picnics and social events, news coverage of and attendance at co-operative events and correspondence with clients. Loose papers: draft of article on members meeting (undated) concerning discussion on circulation of publications and independence of the National Co-operative Publishing Society, proof dated 18 December 1926 with corrections of article on the half yearly meeting of the National Co-operative Publishing Society, letter dated 24 June 1927 from William Bentley, Auditor, to the Shareholders of the National Co-operative Publishing Society giving his apologies for the shareholders meeting where he would have submitted the Auditor’s Report and assuring them of his complete satisfaction with the accounts, with envelope, notice of Shareholders meeting 25 June 1927, Report and Balance Sheet for the Society for six months ended 27 March 1926 and 26 March 1927, letter from William Bamford dated 5 May 1925 retiring as auditor owing to ill health, rule books of the society dated 1919 and 1925 with notice of special meeting to be held 13 December 1924 to amend the rules.
