Note regarding alterations to exterior of 52/56 Market Street, City

Scope and Content

This item is a loose handwritten note detailing two attempts by Saxone, Lilly and Skinner (Lilley was the correct spelling as verified by the other leases in this series) to make alterations to the exterior of 52/56 Market Street. The first part of the note states a proposal had been made to make external alterations and obtain a new shop front. Underneath is written 'Date Effected 4-12-63 Approved. It also states that consent from the Highways Committee was to be obtained regarding the projection of the canopy over the public highway. The second part of the note explains that illuminated signs on each end of the property and the elevation of the canopy stretching over the highway have been requested. The note says that this was refused but on resubmission the use of six illuminated doubled sided signs on the front elevation was granted. The second part of the note is undated.
