File: Modern Italian stories

Correspondence and papers, some of which relate to Modern Italian stories, edited and translated by Strachan (Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1955); in particular, there is a bundle of correspondence with Associated Book Publishers Ltd dating from the early 1970s relating to rights in one of the stories. However, most of the material in the file relates to a proposed subsequent collection of modern Italian stories, which was being discussed in 1967-68, but was not ultimately published. This includes correspondence with Eyre and Spottiswoode, Longmans, Green and Co. Ltd, Macmillan, University of London Press, the Clarendon Press, the Italian Institute, and correspondence between Macmillan and a number of publishers relating to permissions. Also includes: notes by Strachan; outline of the volume and introduction; contents lists; and notes on potential authors for inclusion.
