Administrative / Biographical History
John Moore (c 1599-1650), of Lancashire, was a parliamentarian army officer and regicide. Moore was elected to the Long Parliament in 1640 as MP for Liverpool. He served on parliamentary committees concerning trade and business issues, reflecting the considerable commercial interests he held. His parliamentary diaries date from this period. Moore was a strong supporter of Parliament in 1642 and in March he was made deputy lieutenant for Lancashire. Moore later signed the warrant for the execution of Charles I.
