Scope and Content

Correspondence and papers relating to the administration of the Faculty and the department of music. These include routine matters concerning staffing and courses, the Music Club, and arrangements for various musical events at the University. There is also an interesting memorandum by Humphrey Proctor-Gregg (1895-1980), dated July 1938, concerning musical activities at the University. There are separate folders relating to the Music and Drama Bill, which proposed to set up a Music and Drama Commission, 1937-1938, and papers relating to the original appointment of Proctor-Gregg to a lectureship in music in 1935, and his promotion to a readership in 1937.
