There are also papers concerning the appointment of a special lecturer in local history (G.H. Tupling) in 1934, which include interesting information about the teaching of local history at the University; the appointment of an assistant lecturer in economic history (T.S. Willan) in 1938, and papers concerning the University's involvement with the county records sub-committee of Lancashire county council, on which Professor Jacob sat.
