Collection of manuscript notebooks believed to be those of T.W. Paterson, three on divinity and one on moral philosophy.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Willis Paterson was born on 6 October 1768 in Bristol. His father Rev. Walter Paterson was the chaplain to the Royal North British Dragoons. He was educated at a variety of different schools, and for some time was under the care of Rev Jos. Cornish of Colyton, Devon. In 1784, he was admitted to the Hoxton Academy and the following year attended the Daventry Academy at which the Rev Thomas Belchem was the theological tutor. In 1789, he became a minister at Narborough, moving to a post at Daventry the following year. In 1796, he moved again to become a pastor to chapels at Bordon and Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire. He was married with six children and died on 18 August 1812.
