Scope and Content

The file includes correspondence relating to the establishment of a Medical Engineering Unit by the Academic Development Committee. This important development linked a number of departments in the (University) Faculty of Medicine with the (UMIST) Department of Mechanical Engineering. Other papers include a report on a visit to Canada and the USA by R.D. McLeish of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, a list of projects in Bio-engineering, reports on medical engineering and proposals for a specialist group in the British Computing Society relating to medical engineering.
