From Charles R Hand; his researches on the history of Liverpool, praises Tait's Medieval Manchester; refers to Ramsay Muir who written on the history of Liverpool castle and dated it to the 1230; he believe it is earlier and asks for Tait's opinion.
Attached to this letter is a copy typescript letter from Ramsay Muir to J G Clemesha, responding to latter's criticisms of Muir's thesis that Liverpool's mayor developed from the office of major ballivus. This does not appear to be connected to Hand letter and was probably filed by Tait.
