Scope and Content

This series contains typescripts of lectures for a course of lectures on orthopaedics given by Platt to fourth and fifth year undergraduates in the 1930s and 1940s. The following is taken from a list of such lectures given in the early 1940s (PLA/5/3/1):

  • Lecture 2 Injuries of bones and joints - shoulder and elbow
  • Lecture 3 Injuries of bones and joints - shaft of humerus and forearm
  • Lecture 4 Injuries of bones and joints - wrist and hand
  • Lecture 5 Injuries of bones and joints - spine and pelvis
  • Lecture 6 Injuries of bones and joints - shaft of femur; tibia and fibula
  • Lecture 7 Injuries of bones and joints - hip joint and knee joint
  • Lecture 8 Injuires of bones and joints - ankle and foot
  • Lecture 9 Injuries of joints - strains; internal derangement
  • Lecture 10 Injuries of peripheral nerves
  • Lecture 11 Injuries of muscles and tendons
  • Lecture 12 Congenital deformities - CDH, congenital club foot etc.
  • Lecture 13 Acquired deformities [spine]

 Most of the above lectures are represented in this series with at least one copy, but there are no typescripts for lectures nine, thirteen, nineteen or twenty. Some typescripts do not match exactly in title or subject, but still are identifiable as belonging to this series of lectures, but were probably later revisions. There are also some slide lists.
