Scope and Content

From poet John H[eath]-S[tubbs] (b. 1918), writing in response to a query from Nicholson about former recipients of the Queen's Medal for Poetry. He describes how Stevie Smith, in response to the Queen's question about her current writing, said "she seemed to have been writing a lot about murders" with the result that "the Royal smile froze somewhat".
