Papers relating to the publication of Some Manchester doctors: a biographical collection to mark the 150th anniversary of the Manchester Medical Society 1834-1985, (Manchester University Press, 1984), edited by Willis J. Ellwood and A. F. Tuxford. The volume included an up-to-date history of the Society, and biographical essays on twenty four famous medical practitioners associated with Manchester.
The material comprises correspondence between Elwood and contributors about essay contributions, and with those assisting with editorial work. There are numerous draft typescripts, corrected and uncorrected, together with various research notes used in the compilation of the book. There is also a box of photographic prints and negatives used in the book.
