Scope and Content

The volume has the original pagination pp.1141-1520 and page 1520/1 has been partially torn out and the text lost. This is volume 4 of 5, there is no numbering of lectures or indication of where each lecture begins or ends but clear subject headings are evident throughout. The writing is on the recto of each page only and there is a subject index in the rear.

The contents of the lectures according to the index are: catalepsis [catalepsy]; extasis; vertigo; incubus; apoplexy [stroke]; spasmodic diseases (tetanus, emprothotons [emprosthotonos], epilepsy, chorea sancti viti [St Vitus's Dance], hiccup, hysteria, asthma, headache, colic, hypochondriasis, mania & melancholia); cachexia (anasarca [oedema], ascites, hydrops pectoris [hydrothorax], hydrocephalus, scrofula [tuberculosis, lymph node], rickets, scabies, tinea capitis, lepra, scurvy).

The volume bears the bookplate of the Radford Library, Saint Mary's Hospital, Manchester, which also indicates that it was allocated the reference number Q129 viz. their 1877 catalogue. The volume has since been referenced J6 G20 as part of an alternative system and the spine reads 'Gregory's Practice Vol 4'.
