Snow was born on 23 May 1925 and gained his medical education at the University of Manchester. He held resident appointments at Withington Hospital, Stockport Infirmary, and MRI, and was registrar and then assistant lecturer in the department of cardiology at MRI. After national service in Cambridge, Snow was senior registrar at MRI and Salford Hospital. In 1959 he was appointed consultant physician to Bolton Royal Infirmary and Bolton General Hospital. Snow was a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine from 1953. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and the British Cardiac Society, and was honorary secretary of the Manchester Regional Association of Physicians. Snow was very much involved in the local work of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, being president of the Manchester Branch from 1962 to 1965. He was founder of the Bolton Medical Institute.
