Shubsachs gained his medical education at the University of Manchester. He held resident appointments at Royal Salop Infirmary and Preston and Huddersfield Royal Infirmaries. In the early 1930s, Shubsachs was involved in court action with Isaac Bryer, who had lent Shubsachs money for his examinations and to set up in practice. Shubsachs repaid the loan, but later accused Bryer of blackmail. Bryer was acquitted, and the following year he unsuccesfully sued Shubsachs for damages. Shubsachs settled in general practice in Cheetham Hill, and later in New Mills, Cheshire.
