Oliver was consultant psycho geriatrician to Tameside General Hospital. He was born in 1943 and gained his medical education at Manchester, qualifying in 1966. He was district medical officer in St Lucia before returning to Manchester, gaining his MRCPsych in 1973 and holding psychiatric registrar appointments at Withington Hospital and United Manchester Hospitals. Oliver was a member of Council of the Section of Psychiatry of Manchester Medical Society.
