MB ChB Manch 1944; DOMS Eng 1947; LMCC 1957.

After studying at Manchester, Bennett held house positions at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Wolverhampton and Midland Counties Eye Infirmary. He then worked in general practice in Stockport. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and Manchester Pathological Society. He later became assistant ophthalmologist at Sunderland Eye Infirmary and General Hospital, West Hartlepool before becoming consultant in ophthalmology to the government of Cyrenaica [Libya].
