These volumes contain the minutes of each quarterly meeting of the Ancient Order of Foresters and Knutsford District of Foresters. There appears to be a gap in the minute books, between 1901 and 1914, which is the time of the merger between the societies. However, the minute books for the Ancient Order of Shepherds (KDF/2/1) are complete for the period 1861-1912, and provide some information about the merger.
The impact of the First World War on membership rates is touched upon in the minute books. Reference is made to the fact that some members would be joining Lord Kitchener's army for the duration of the War and that the 'club shall do its best for any members that have joined' and such members would still receive full benefits from the society.
The minutes books are arranged in 3 subseries: AOF minute books, KDF fair copy minute books and KDF draft minute books. They are arranged in chronological order within each subseries.
