Seventh Congress

Scope and Content

The Seventh Congress of the European Society of Haematology was held at Bedford College, London on 7-12 September 1959. The Society held biennial congresses at different locations across Europe and preparations and planning for the Seventh Congress began with the first meeting of the Organising Committee in October 1955 where Wilkinson was nominated as President of Congress. Alongside Wilkinson, Dr E. Neumark of St Mary's Hospital, London acted as Congress Secretary and Dr J.W. Stewart of the Middlesex Hospital, London acted as Congress Treasurer. The two files include a number of items of correspondence with haematology professionals across the continent as well as minutes of the meetings of the Organising Committee, lists of speakers and delegates, and reports of the congress. Whilst the vast majority of material is in English there are occasional items of correspondence in other European languages including French, Spanish, and Russian.
