Typescript: "Large scale planning for head injuries"

Scope and Content

Draft typescript report, possibly to the Medical Research Council or the Ministry of Health. The report describes in detail the plans put into action during the war, with sub-sections on special neurosurgical centres, notification of head injuries, ability of patients with head injuries to travel, mortality rates of head injuries, methods of treatment and return to work. The report describes in detail the role of the special head centres, who treated many soldiers and civilians (both casualties and other neurological illness). The desirability of specialist centres is emphasised and Jefferson suggests that the plans put into action during war should be prolonged and improved into peacetime, especially with the advent of the forthcoming National Health Service.
