Scope and Content

A modern copy of one of RD's original home recordings, made for his son John Donat. It is identified as "RD Fragments" and its contents are as follows: (1) RD's introduction to 'The Prayer of St Francis' followed by two readings of the prayer itself; (2) 'Testing only' (in which RD hopes for "better weather, less asthma and BBC results"); (3) four readings of 'Upon Westminster Bridge', by Wordsworth, which RD introduces as recording experiments, in various different positions and locations; (4) introduction to and reading of 'Carol' by Jill Furse.

Duration: 10 minutes.

The tape was provided by Sound Developments Studios, Utopia Village, 7 Chalcot Road, London NW1 8LH, whose label is attached to the original box. Engineer: Simon Trezies.
