Alan Dale (1891-1981) was a local historian of Cheshire, who collected antiquarian material and made extensive notes on the Dale family and on the history of Alderley, Great Warford and Mobberley. His papers include a volume of pressed flowers from 1836 (DP/2/3/1); a scrapbook relating to Alderley and Great Warford (DP/2/3/3); two printed books relating to Alderley Edge and antiquities of Cheshire (DP/2/3/2 and DP/2/3/4); a pedigree relating to Mobberley (DP/2/3/5); notes on Great Warford (DP/2/3/6); a transcript of James Dale's journal of Lady Warburton's tour of Europe in 1818 (DP/2/3/7); a copy of Cheshire life magazine (DP/2/3/8); and two photocopies relating to the Dale family DP/2/3/9-10).
