Scope and Content

Correspondence with William Stafford (1914-1993), American poet. Topics covered include: the acceptance of various poems, including groups submitted to CQ in 1963, 1964, 1970 and 1973; his poem 'An Early Massacre'; Stafford's appointment as Consultant in Poetry at the Library of Congress in 1970; and recommendations of poets for Cox to meet on an American visit in 1979.

/21 includes a group of typescript poems: 'One Time', 'A Cameo of Your Mother', 'The Book About You', and 'A Catechism'.

/14 and /15 are Christmas cards which contain photographs; /16 is a photograph of Stafford with his wife Dorothy and son Kim; and /17 is a photograph of Stafford speaking at a Vietnam peace rally.
