Scope and Content

Book file relating to Charles Boyle's poetry collection Affinities (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1977). The volume was typeset in-house at Carcanet and printed using offset lithography by Unwin Brothers Ltd. This file contains the collated page proofs of the volume, with the exception of the preliminary sheets. They have been corrected throughout in red, with a note on the first sheet to indicate that these represent the author's and proof-reader's corrections. Stored with: photocopy of book jacket; and copy of the production sheet sent to the printers detailing work to be carried out, dated 25 August 1977.

Arrangement

The first two sheets have no numbers, and the remainder of the sheets have printed page numbers running from 7 to 56.

Charles Boyle's correspondence file at CPA/2/2/12 includes manuscripts of all the poems included in this collection, although not in their final order. The same file also includes the author's proofs of Affinities, corrected by Boyle and dated 17 May 1977 (see CPA/2/2/12/127).
