Minter, Gordon & Enid, Slides Archive

Scope and Content

The Minter Collection is a series of talks, illustrated with slides, originally developed and delivered by Gordon and Enid Minter to various groups around the Huddersfield area.

The talks are kept in the same weekly order as they were received. Some of the talks have more than one version, probably indicating the tailoring of their talks to specific audiences. All but two of the talks have accompanying slides, again in the same order as received.

Subjects include the Chronology of Huddersfield, Castle Hill, Almondbury Boundary, Legends, Maps, Vernacular Architecture, Place Names, Mills, Joseph Kaye, Churches, Yards of Huddersfield, Co-operative Societies, Riot and Rebellion (Plug Riots, Weaver’s Strike, Crossley Murder, Scottish Rebellion, Seige of Huddersfield, Skelmanthorpe Fight, Bill O’Jacks, Thorncliffe Murder), Luddites, Markets, Industry, Water, Canals, Railways, Trams, Buses, Trolley Buses, Carvings, Halls, Then and Now, Landmarks, Parks, Woodland, Fields and Hedges, Coining, Child Labour, Executions at York,
