Administrative / Biographical History

In November 1974 the Gallery ran a visitor information desk in the Gallery entrance hall for an two-week trial period. It was a success and another experiment was carried out in 1976, with an information desk running for three months. Thereafter a permanent visitor information desk was set up. Staff at the information desk answered enquiries from the public, passed enquiries on to the relevant departments, gave directions, handed out information leaflets, etc. They now also sell tickets for special exhibitions.
