NPG - Minutes of Exhibition Committee Meetings

Scope and Content

Exhibition Committee meetings are used for forward planning of the exhibition programme, which are programmed around 5 years in advance, and giving updates on the progress of current or upcoming exhibitions. This includes touring exhibitions, visitor numbers and sales of catalogues and merchandise, design and marketing, and other planning issues. Projected visitor figures and suggested pricing for future exhibitions are also discussed.

These meetings are attended by the Director, the Curators, Head of Finance and Planning, Director of Communications and Development & Deputy Director, Head of Trading, Head of Archive and Library, Head of Exhibitions and Collections, Exhibitions Managers, Publishing Manager, Interpretation Editor, Marketing Manager, and the Head of Learning.

Brainstorming meetings are held occasionally to discuss ideas for future exhibitions, and the minutes of these are included in this series.

Detailed exhibition planning is carried out at the exhibition project management meeting (NPG36).

Meetings are held about six times a year, though this varies. All meetings are minuted.

The series includes, for each meeting, the minutes and agenda. Discussion papers are also included occasionally.
