Scope and Content

The Women's Council, origins dating back to 1935, composed of individual members and representatives of 27 women's organisations in Britain. Aimed to promote understanding between women of Asia and the United Kingdom through co-operation with major organisations in Asian countries. Non-political and non-secretarian, concerned with education, social welfare and the position of women.

Consists of:

- papers relating to Annual General Meetings of The Women's Council

- correspondence concerning an Annual Garden Party (1978, 1979)

- correspondence concerning Hong Kong's Young Women's Christian Association's working with young girls at risk with photocopy of programme
