Scope and Content

From Malvern to India. Has written to Mrs Bromehead whose husband has died. Encloses letter from Mrs Whitley, who appears to have considered her as a 'supplanter'until now; surprised she has not attempted to contact her godson Noel for twelve years. Shakespeare reading with Lady Mary Fielding and Sir John Haskin. Feels distressed that Philippa, who has been staying with them, is wasting her gifts, only interested in fashionable life yet not satisfied with it.
