Scope and Content

To her mother from Allahabad. Mentions a Mrs Williamson the Presbyterian chaplain's wife, whose trousseau went astray when she came out to be married, and had to have a muslin dress made locally which arrived only five minutes before she had to be at the church. Describes a very busy day and is relieved there are not many so full. A mongoose has become quite tame and comes into the house to drink from the finger bowls; it is too useful to be driven away, in spite of the danger to crockery. New uniforms are to be made for the servants. She mentions a boating accident on the Ganges, when a young officer was drowned.
