Part of an armband, used by Mary Beatrice Crowle, as part of War Service for Women. Of fine cream hessian or similar fabric, with hems along the top and bottom, but left unfinished on the left and right edges where it has been cut away from the rest of the band. With large lettering printed in blue. Glued onto a page of the scrapbook. [A note records that Mrs Crowle was the Honorary Secretary of the CUWFA Plymouth Branch].

Poor condition. Dirty along the edges and on some creases, creased. Fraying on the edges where it has been cut. Brown patch of staining in the bottom right quarter, and ink from the opposite page has made grey smudges in the same area. The glue which has been used to stick it to the page is clearly visible from the front and has stained it but has not turned brown. Condition stable. Extensive treatment needed. Production method: mechanically woven, machine stitched, block printed.
