The photograph has faded to a brownish yellow tone, and is pasted onto a page in the notebook. The page opposite has a manuscript caption: 'They feed you quite well there'. / 'Oh, I don't care a damn / what grub I get'.

Poor condition. Faded and yellowed badly, spots of black ink (from the opposite page) on surface, centre and top, white spotting bottom right quarter. Production method: gelatin silver print
